The design of this project was centred on dark colours. To introduce warmth and prevent the space from feeling overly heavy, MDF panels finished with grey woodgrain laminate were used alongside the dark surfaces. Smoked glass also played an important role in the composition: while maintaining the dark, formal character of the design, it allowed light to pass through and helped the space feel less enclosed. The television area was designed in harmony with the partitions, with part of the black surface behind it intended for use as a writing surface. The combination of materials, light and colour created a warm, modern space aligned with the client’s requirements.

Request:To design a space dominated by black and dark tones, with a suitable location for the television and a surface that could be used for writing.
Challenge: To preserve the dark character requested by the client without making the space feel enclosed or heavy, while providing sufficient light and functionality throughout.
Result: Combining MDF finished with woodgrain laminate, dark tones, black surfaces and light-transmitting smoked glass created a balanced relationship between warmth, depth and brightness. The television area followed the same design language and was integrated with the writing surface, meeting the functional requirements while maintaining visual coherence. The result is a warm, modern and balanced space that retains the client’s preferred dark character without feeling overly heavy.
